Probation Services support the rehabilitation and reintegration of youth in conflict with the law and reduce each youth’s risk to reoffend by:
- Assessing a youth’s risk, needs and strengths
- Advocating and providing assistance to youth and their families (i.e. system navigation, referrals to community agencies)
- Working with police, custody facilities, community service agencies, courts, schools, victims and families
- Directly providing rehabilitative interventions
- Preparing court reports and appearing in court
- Monitoring and supporting compliance with court orders
